Science Fellowships: Here are our 2025 Fellows!

We are dedicated to amplifying the impact of science on the advancement of society. To achieve this, we offer six distinct fellowships designed to foster collaboration among the next generation of scientific leaders. Our four fellowships for Master's, PhD, and medical students provide exceptional opportunities for international exchange programs in key research areas: drug discovery, agricultural science, medicine, and climate and health. For 2025, out of a total of 396 applications, 62 early-career scientists and early-career professionals have been awarded fellowships, supporting them with funding for international research stays and fostering international exchange.

Supporting Female Farmers in Nepal with Innovative Biofertilizer

Climate-resilient and sustainable agriculture is essential for ensuring food security and protecting the environment in an era of climate change. In Nepal, women are driving innovation and transforming agriculture through Tricho-vermicompost, a biofertilizer that boosts yields by 15% and fights soil diseases. We support iDE in Nepal to reach 5,000 households by 2025, producing 640 tonnes of compost to help farmers grow more, earn more, and build resilience.

Aging with Dignity: Integrated Nursing to Support Community Elder Care in China

We are supporting the collaboration between Buurtzorg and Guangxi New Life Healthcare through their pilot project, “Integrated Nursing to Support Community Elder Care”. The initiative was officially launched on May 28, 2025, at a ceremony held in Nanning, China. United by the shared mission of delivering “lower costs, better care,” all organizations aim to reshape community-based elder care in China by introducing a new, integrated, and empowering care model.

How Dedicated Community Health Workers Are Reaching Madagascar’s Unvaccinated Children

In rural southern Madagascar, where financial poverty and geographic isolation make healthcare access challenging, Community Health Workers (CHWs) are crucial in vaccinating children who would otherwise miss out. Doctors for Madagascar (DfM) aims to vaccinate at least 40,000 children by March 2026, targeting an 80 percent reduction in unvaccinated children across three regions of southern Madagascar. We have supported Doctors for Madagascar’s community healthcare program through our Social Innovation Ecosystem Fund.

Bayer Foundation Women Entrepreneurs Award 2025: Meet our winners!

In partnership with Impact Hub Network, we launched a global search to find women entrepreneurs driving sustainable innovation in health and food security. Today, we can announce the 30 finalists from our award regions Africa and the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and Latin America, who are shaping the future of these critical sectors.

Sustainable Primary Healthcare in Karachi: Women-focused clinics for underserved communities

We supported Mezrab, a non-profit social enterprise in Pakistan, with a grant that enables the launch of three primary health clinics in the underserved urban neighborhoods of Karachi. Formally inaugurated on March 11, the Pehli Kiran Family Health Clinics will provide sustainable primary healthcare with a focus on women’s reproductive health. ‘Pehli Kiran’ translates to ‘First Light’ or ‘First Ray of Light.’

Bayer Foundation celebrates exceptional achievements in scientific research by promoting promising early career scientists and recognizing the groundbreaking contributions of world-leading experts. In early 2025, the foundation honored six distinguished scientists for their innovative work at a ceremony in Leverkusen, fostering dynamic discussions, valuable networking, and encouraging scientific exchange.

Fellowships: Applications for our Fellowships Program 2025 are now closed

We closed the fellowship applications for 2025 and received an overwhelming response from 70 different nationalities! In total, we received 396 applications, with 50% of them being women. We're currently in the internal review phase, and we'll announce the fellowship recipients after our Jury meeting in June. Stay tuned for more updates!
