From pilot to policy: Scaling an elderly homecare project to a government-led model in China

After a year of piloting our collaboration project “Integrated Care for Elderly” together with Buurtzorg China and Guangxi NewLife has been successfully concluded and is now transitioning into a government‑led care model in China. In May 2026, a conference held in Nanning, Guangxi marked this milestone, bringing together policymakers, experts, and practitioners to discuss the high‑quality development of the elderly care sector under the shared mission of delivering “better care at lower cost”.

Where Climate Meets Health: Climate-Health Innovation in Action Across Asia

Climate change is rapidly becoming a health emergency across Asia, yet funding for climate‑health solutions remains limited. The Climate x Health Lighthouse Fund, launched by AVPN with our support, is addressing this gap by accelerating locally driven innovations, from AI‑powered heat mapping, drone‑enabled disease prevention to frontline health worker training. Through flexible funding, capacity building, and ecosystem support, the fund enables solutions such as KUMPUL (Indonesia), Chintan (India), and SORA Technology (the Philippines) to scale and sustain their impact.

Honoring Scientific Legacy: Frank Misselwitz Memorial Award recognizes two thrombosis researchers

The Frank Misselwitz Memorial Award for Excellence in Thrombosis Research is a one-time distinction established to honor the scientific legacy of Dr. Frank Misselwitz, who passed away in summer 2025. The award recognizes two early- career researchers whose work reflects the translational ambition and curiosity that shaped Dr. Misselwitz’s career. Honored are Dr. Sarah Beck and PD Dr. med. Gerrit M. Grosse, PhD, whose achievements underline the depth and momentum of current fundamental and clinical thrombosis research and its relevance to improving patient outcomes.

Groundbreaking Research: Our Science Awards 2025 honor five outstanding scientists

Chemist Prof. Dr. Lutz Ackermann from the Georg-August University Göttingen is awarded the €75,000 Hansen Family Award from the Bayer Foundation this year. The prize honors Ackermann's research in sustainable chemistry, organic synthesis, and catalysis. Additionally, Dr. Casey Paquola, Dr. Simon Lebek, Dr. Anna Wuttig, and Dr. Britta Velten receive the “Early Excellence in Science Award” as emerging talents in Life Sciences.

Bayer Foundation supports STEM and sustainability initiatives at 42 schools this year

We are again supporting schools for outstanding projects in STEM fields (Mathematics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences, and Technology) as well as sustainability. Through the 'Science@School' program, 46 innovative school projects receive a total funding amount of 234,000 euros. The Science@School funding program supports dedicated teachers across Germany in creating modern and inclusive lessons, in addition to the prescribed curriculum content, to strengthen interest in STEM subjects.
